West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice appointed Michael A. Muscari, D.O., as the newest addition to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (91香蕉视频) Board of Governors effective Aug. 19.
The 91香蕉视频 Board of Governors is the body that oversees the financial, business and educational policies under which the state鈥檚 largest medical school operates. It consists of nine members appointed by the governor and three elected representatives, one each from the school鈥檚 faculty, staff and student body.
Muscari is a family medicine physician who co-owns Family Healthcare Associates, a practice group based in Pineville, W.Va., that operates six clinics in West Virginia鈥檚 Wyoming, McDowell, Mingo and Logan counties.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Concord College in 1980, he attended 91香蕉视频, where he earned a D.O. degree in 1984 before completing an internship at Bay City Osteopathic Hospital in Bay City, Mich.
Muscari said he is pleased to have been selected for board membership.
鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor to be on the board,鈥 he said. 鈥淭his school has provided myself and my family so many benefits in life, and I look forward to giving back in any way I can. Serving on the Board of Governors is one way I can do that.鈥
Muscari previously served on the West Virginia Board of Osteopathic Medicine, which oversees the licensing of osteopathic physicians in the state. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the West Virginia Osteopathic Medical Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
